WE CARE Overview.
During university, I became fascinated with how designers could impact healthcare and biotech. My analysis of AI in Medicine and bioinformatics revealed a gap in user-centered design. In my speculative graduation project, I demonstrated the potential of effective solutions through interdisciplinary collaboration. Mehrdad Moosavi (cancer researcher and computational biologist) offered valuable guidance, highlighting the innovative yet challenging aspects of our work. I was also mentored by Dr. Janessa Laskin (co-lead of the POG program), which significantly enriched the experience. This project stands out as one of the most rewarding of my career, providing crucial lessons in design thinking and collaboration. It was recognized with the ECU Health Design Award for Service, a testament to its impact.

The WE CARE showcase video, highlighting its features through Megan's health journey.
The healthcare industry often relies on a one-size-fits-all approach, prioritizing treatment over prevention. This model lacks personalization, limiting its ability to address individual health needs effectively.
Patients face challenges in accessing and understanding their own health risks and making informed decisions about their well-being.
Clinicians and researchers struggle with complex data analysis and lack advanced GUI tools for effective genomic research.
WE CARE offers comprehensive and speculative software and app solutions designed for a revolutionary healthcare system that integrates genomic insights and empowers individuals to proactively manage their health.
The P4 medicine principles—Personalized, Predictive, Preventive, and Participatory—empower individuals to take charge of their health with a proactive and informed approach.
